Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Saturday, December 15, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Saturday, Dec 15, 1883 Attended the auction sale this morning. The rugs went at very low prices as did most of the articles. I bought four rugs one very firm one. Came home by N.S. train Calvert coming along. Bitterly cold. John, Nannie and Ettie and Girard and his wife came up. Are to form a family reading circle. This the first meeting. Did not get to bed until 10 o'clock.
