Archives of American Art Journal: Spring 2018, Volume 57, Number 1

Cover of the Spring 2018 issue of the Archives of American Art Journal

The spring 2018 issue of the Archives of American Art Journal (vol. 57, no. 1) showcases the Archives’ sweeping scope, with essays on sculptures of American Indians from the turn of the twentieth century, a traveling altarpiece painted during World War II, and a conceptual artwork that took the form of a 1969 black-tie giveaway. The issue also includes an essay on snapshots and other archival photographs and the second in our ongoing series of artist commissions.
