Summary: 69 Letters removed from a scrapbook from Emerson to his wife Anne and daughter Rae; exhibition catalogs; a list of paintings; a photograph of Emerson; and miscellany documenting the time Emerson spent in Chicago, Illinois trying to sell his work. In the letters, Emerson describes the people he meets, the galleries he visits, and in one letter lists the title, size, and asking price of his paintings.

Donated 2007 by Anne Richie. Richie received the papers from her mother who lived in Connecticut, where the letters were sent. It is unknown how Richie's mother acquired the material.
