Summary: The Thomas Hayes photographs date from circa 1935. Found are photographs of Hayes's mural done for the Federal Art Project, Works Progress Administration at Millbrae Elementary School in Millbrae, California.
Thomas Hayes (1910-1958) was a painter and craftsman from San Francisco, California. He painted murals for the Federal Art Project, Works Progress Administration.
The lender, Lewis Ferbrache, collected papers for AAA from artists and administrators of the various government funded art programs of the Depression. It was part of a larger nation-wide, collecting project, "New Deal and the Arts." The photographs were returned to Ferbrache after filming.
