This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. Biographical Historical Note

Norman Perman is a Chicago-based graphic designer. After graduating from Northwestern University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Perman began his career designing recruiting posters for the United States Navy. In 1953, he started an independent design office, concentrating on the planning and design of corporate communications, annual reports, exhibitions, educational materials, and corporate art collections. He is a past president and fellow of the Society of Typographic Arts and has served on the Board of Directors of the Arts Club of Chicago.
