This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. Biographical Historical Note

Gordon Martin was a designer and teacher in Chicago during the 1950s and 1960s. Martin was active in the Society of Typographic Arts and served as its president in 1957. He taught at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he also served as the head of the visual design department.
