This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.

Descriptive Summary

3.25 linear feet (8 boxes), 3 oversize portfolios and flatfile materials documenting the construction of two homes by Frank Lloyd Wright for Herbert and Katherine Jacobs, who developed a close relationship with the architect. The collection includes the Jacob's research files on Wright's life and career, as well as activities at his homes, Taliesin East in Wisconsin and Taliesin West in Arizona. Series IV includes drawings documenting Wright’s developing designs for furnishings for the Jacobs’ second home, known as the Solar Hemicycle House.
