This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.

Descriptive Summary

63 linear feet (51 boxes), 1 oversize portfolio and flatfile materials consisting of project files, correspondence, photographs, printed materials, office papers, personal papers and drawings documenting the work of American architect Ben Weese. These papers relate to Weese's early work at the firm of Harry Weese and Associates and as founding partner of Weese Seegers Hickey Weese and its successor firm, Weese Langley Weese. The collection includes materials relating to the mural by Richard Haas for 1211 N. LaSalle Street, Chicago, and to library sculpture, lighting fixtures, and furniture for Stewart Library, Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.


Biographical Historical Note

Benjamin Weese was an American architect and the brother of architect Harry M. Weese, with whom he worked until 1977, when he formed his own practice.
