This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. Biographical Historical Note

Alfred Phillips Shaw was a prominent Chicago architect. In 1933, he married Rue Winterbotham, who presided for some 38 years over the Arts Club of Chicago, an important venue for artistic modernism in the city.
