Descriptive Summary

0.1 linear feet (1 folder) of material consisting of four layouts accompanied by a 4page ALS from Hamill to Chappell dated April 10, 1949, concerning these layouts and the book of fables for which they were intended, and by a set of notes on the letter and layouts written out by Chappell in April 1967, signed and dated. Originally intended for an edition of selected fables of Ivan Andreevich Krylov in translation; some of the art work was eventually used for one of the original collections of fables by Hamill illustrated by Philip Reed: Five or More Fables (Lake Forest, Illinois: Centaurs, 1951).
