This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. Descriptive Summary

0.2 linear feet (128 items in 1 box) of material consisting of notes, sketches, studies and trial sheets for Ingmire’s 1991 calligraphic manuscript now in the Newberry Library, Relearning the Alphabet. The earliest studies are for a related uncompleted project started in the mid-1980s on a commission from the San Francisco collector Richard Harrison.
