Chicago Reader artwork collection
This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.
Descriptive Summary
14.3 linear feet (10 oversize boxes) of material consisting of original works of various artists commissioned by the Chicago Reader as cover art, or to illustrate features, news articles and columns, including original pen and ink drawings, charcoal drawings, paintings, and computer-generated images by local, regional and nationally known artists and illustrators. Works were published as cover art or to illustrate feature stories or columns. Artists include Slug Signorino, Gary Panter, and Archer Prewitt. The collection forms part of the Chicago Reader Records, c.1960s–2007.
