This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. Descriptive Summary

92 linear feet (144 boxes and 19 oversize boxes) of material consisting of works, correspondence, and papers of novelist, playwright, and screenwriter Ben Hecht, and also papers of his wife Rose Caylor Hecht (novelist) and daughter Jenny Hecht (actress). Included are letters from artist George Grosz to Ben Hecht and to Rose Caylor Hecht and artwork by Grosz.

Biographical Historical Note

George Grosz was a German American painter, illustrator, draftsman, and caricaturist.
