This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.

Descriptive Summary

Approximately 6,500 videotapes, of which approximately 2,600 have been digitized, created by videomakers throughout the world. The central focus of the archive is a unique collection of Chicago-based independent video that portrays life in Chicago from 1969 to 2012, documenting all corners of the city and people from all walks of life. The collection includes numerous videos documenting art and artists, such as Tony Fitzpatrick, Anthony Hughes, Richard Hunt, Alexander Kasparov, and Nam June Paik.
