This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.

Descriptive Summary

0.25 linear feet of material consisting of a portfolio of artist Sylvia Malagrino’s work printed in 1990, a biographical press contact sheet, a professional summary including her resume, artist statement, teaching statement, selected exhibitions and screenings, and curriculum vitae compiled June 2006, and other material relating to Malagrino’s professional art career such as gallery invitation cards, selected and scanned newspaper and magazine articles, exhibit programs, and exhibit brochures. The collection also includes DVDs of short videos and a documentary film directed by Malagrino, slides of her photographic works as displayed in two exhibit installations, and an audio interview with the artist.

 

Biographical Historical Note

Chicago-based artist Sylvia Malagrino, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, works in the mediums of photography, installations, light, digital video, and documentary film. Malagrino is a professor of photography at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
