This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.

Descriptive Summary

0.5 linear feet of material relating to the professional art career of Olivia Petrides, including exhibition postcards and press releases, Artemisia Gallery materials, media coverage of Petrides’s exhibitions and art, exhibition publications, one portfolio of a painting series, a biography and resume. In addition, the collection includes copies of naturalist field guides written by the artist’s father, George A. Petrides, and illustrated by Olivia Petrides, and slides of oil and watercolor paintings relating to the books.

Biographical Historical Note

Olivia Petrides is a painter, illustrator, and educator based in Chicago. In the 1980s she was active in Artemisia Gallery, a women artists’ cooperative gallery.
