This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.

Descriptive Summary

Approximately 140 linear feet of material relating to Lithuanian and Lithuanian American painters, sculptors, and photographers, notably Algimantas Kezys, Victor Petravičius, and Mikas (Michael) Šileikis. Included are clippings, biographical information, original artworks, photographs of artworks and installations, correspondence, and approximately 800 exhibition catalogues, including many for American institutions and organizations in which Lithuanian American artists were represented.

Biographical Historical Note

Much of the collection was assembled by photographer Algimantas Kezys in conjunction with the exhibitions of work by Lithuanian American artists that he organized from 1986 to about 2010 in his Stickney, Illinois, home.
