Reference files from the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society

This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.

Descriptive Summary

Approximately 50 linear feet of files of materials on individuals and institutions associated with the adjacent towns of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, Illinois. Included is a small volume of material, largely clippings, printed materials, press releases, biographical data, checklists, and correspondence, relating to local artists, notably Sylvia Shaw Judson [Haskins], Franklin McMahon and the McMahon family, and Milo Kendall Winter Sr.

Biographical Historical Note

Sylvia Shaw Judson Haskins was a Chicago-area sculptor.

Franklin McMahon was a Chicago artist and illustrator-reporter active in publications and commercial advertising.

Milo Kendall Winter Jr. was an American landscape and still life painter.
