This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. Descriptive Summary

Approximately 100 items of correspondence between Louis Agassiz Fuertes and Field Museum curator of zoology Wilfred Osgood regarding commissions and work for Fuertes’s illustrations for Birds of New York by Elon Howard Eaton (1916). Two other letters concern arrangements for Fuertes to accompany the Field Museum's Abyssinian Expedition of 1926.

Biographical Historical Note

Louis Agassiz Fuertes was a prominent ornithologist, artist, and illustrator whose images of birds were widely published. The Field Museum owns watercolors of birds by Fuertes.
