This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. Descriptive Summary

2 sketchbooks (dated 1952 and 1956) and a scrapbook (c.1970s) by Sandra Jorgensen and approximately 50 slides of her artworks. The scrapbook includes sketches, photographs of artworks, poetry, a postcard, postage stamps, personal photographs, lists, and other materials and annotations relating to Jorgensen’s artistic projects.

Biographical Historical Note

Sandra Jorgensen, a painter who trained at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, was a longtime professor of art at Elmhurst College and the first curator of its collection of works by Chicago Imagist artists.
