This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.

Descriptive Summary

Transcripts of brief oral history interviews of approximately 70 Asian American artists and key organizers and participants of Asian/Asian American arts and cultural organizations, with an emphasis on individuals in the Midwest, especially Chicago. Artists include Roger Shimomura, Michiko Itatani, Grace Lai, and many others. Interview transcripts are available online. The collection also includes some exhibition announcements and similar materials contributed by individual artists.

Biographical Historical Note

Founded in 2009, this ongoing student conducted project is led by Laura Kina, Associate Professor Art, Media, & Design, DePaul University.
