This record forms part of the Chicago’s Art-Related Archival Materials: A Terra Foundation Resource project funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. For this project, the Archives surveyed archival repositories throughout the Chicago region to identify art-related materials contained in their holdings. While the Archives of American Art does not own any of the materials described herein, information about those materials and links to the original repositories have been included when available.

Descriptive Summary

34 lithographs, 11 photographic prints, and 1 folder of non-graphic material relating to the Old Town Art Fair, Chicago. The collection includes an incomplete set of posters for the fair and portraits of several artists associated with the neighborhood: Clyde Burt, Eugene Bennett, Edouard Chassaing, and Ryozo Ogura; and a pamphlet entitled from the 40th anniversary of the fair.

Biographical Historical Note

The Old Town Art Fair is an art fair and neighborhood festival sponsored by the Old Town Triangle Association in Chicago. The fair is held annually on Lincoln Park West, Menomenee, Orleans, and Wisconsin streets in Chicago on the second weekend in June. Traditionally an artist who wins a major prize at the fair is invited to design the poster for the next year.
