Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum

Opened in 1930, the Adler Planetarium is the nation's oldest planetarium. Its original building, designed by architect Ernest Grunsfeld Jr. (1897-1970), features decorative details by Alfonso Iannelli (1888-1965). The planetarium's archival collections, including a small volume of material relating to the building's design, are described in brief online records and limited print-only inventories available on site. The record in this web resource was compiled from in-person examination of materials.
