Stanley Marsh 3 (1938-2014) was an artist and philanthropist in Amarillo, Texas nationally known for the establishment of Cadillac Ranch outside Amarillo, Texas, and was known for his outlandish artistic interventions in civic proceedings and spaces. Sam Silver met Stanley Marsh 3 on drives between his home in New Mexico and Houston, Texas. Silver was interested in art, and he began corresponding with Marsh 3. The two quickly became friends.
Donated in 2022 by Tomas Silver, Sam Silver's brother.
