Summary: The papers of Sanford Schwartz measure 0.7 linear feet and date from 1948-2006 and include Schwartz's research material on artists Myron Stout and William King.

Materials regarding Provincetown, Mass. painter Myron Stout (1908-1987) relate to the retrospective exhibition curated by Schwartz held at the Whitney Museum of American Art, February 5- April 6 1980. Included are correspondence with Stout and lenders to the exhibition; a sketch by Stout; notes, writings, and sketches by Schwartz pertaining to the exhibition; and photographs of Stout, including one with Hans Hofmann teaching in Provincetown in 1948.

Material regarding sculptor William King (1925-1990) was compiled in preparation for Schwartz's exhibition The Early Work of William King held at the Alexandre Gallery in New York December 2, 2006- January 20, 2007 and includes correspondence between Schwartz and King; Schwartz's notes on interviews with King; and photographs of King and his work. Also included are two catalogs and reviews from the exhibition.
