Correspondence includes letters and postcards to and from family, friends, colleagues, and arts institutions. There is a mixture of personal and professional correspondence. The professional correspondence often concerns exhibitions and projects, inventory and sales of artwork at galleries, invitations to events; and occasional research requests from art students, historians, and curators. The bulk of this series consists of letters to and from Roy De Forest, but correspondence dated 2007 and after are often addressed to Gloria Marchant, Roy De Forest's widow, regarding the artist's estate. Also included in this series are holiday and greeting cards.
Most of this series is arranged alphabetically, with unidentified correspondents and holiday cards grouped at the end. Correspondents with more than three letters have their own folder. Correspondents with three letters or less are in the "Miscellaneous" alphabetical folders.
The bulk of this series has been digitized, except for the last 2 folders of mostly blank greeting cards (only signed with a first name at most).
