Summary: The Records relating to the Index of American Design Exhibition date from 1936 to 1937. Found is the exhibition catalog, a manual and supplement for the instruction to install the Index of American Design Exhibition, and correspondence between the Federal Art Project and Frederick Robinson of the Fogg Museum.
The Index of American Design was a project of the research division of the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration which produced approximately 20,000 reproductions (photographs and original drawings) and classifications of a wide variety of American art, paintings, sculptures, handicrafts, and folk art. It was held at the Fogg Museum at Harvard University in 1937.
The records were lent for microfilming in 1964 by the Fogg Art Museum of Harvard University and returned after filming.
