McCray's general correspondence files relate to numerous consulting and committee projects, and professional memberships. There are letters from Mrs. John Lockwood, Grace Morley, Kazuko Oshima, Hubert Humphrey, Donald Richie, and Tenzin Thetong, a representative of the Dalai Lama. A file for contributors to the Porter McCray fund contains letters to McCray from Helen Franc about monetary contributions made to McCray by an unofficial Porter McCray fan club. The bulk of McCray's correspondence is found in his consulting project files.
