Scope and Contents
The papers of New York painter Oscar Collier consists of printed materials relating to Collier and his circle of "Indian Space" painters and dates from 1945 to 1947. Included are exhibition catalogs of Collier shows, including a joint show of Collier and Howard Daum at (Carl) Ashby Gallery (1946), the show 8 and a Totempole at Gallery Neuf (1946), and Collier's first one man show at Galerie Neuf (1947); The League (winter 1946), the bulletin of the Art Students League containing an article by Collier "Art and Commercial America"; 4 issues of the art and literature quarterly Iconograph with Kenneth Beaudoin as editor and Collier as associate editor, and its supplement The Iconography Quarterly Supplement of Prejudice and Opinion (1946-1947).

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Oscar Collier papers printed materials were donated to the Archives of American Art in 1995 by Oscar Collier; he lent the photographs for microfilming at the same time.
Separated Materials
The Archives of American Art also holds microfilm of material lent for microfilming (reel 5051). Loaned material consists of 6 photographs (5 photographs taken by Mildred Tolbert of artists Gertrude Barrer, Lloyd Barrell, Kenneth L. Beaudoin, and Carol Bundy and Alfred Russell; and 1 photograph of Jean Franklin, co-editor of the last issue of Iconograph, taken by Louis Stettner) were returned to the donor and are not described in the collection inventory.
