Series 1: Biographical Material , 1968-circa 2000

Biographical material includes citizenship and visa documents for Ojeda and his daughter Ana Gabriela Ojeda; a notebook used for studying for citizenship; official documents that include Ojeda's university, travel, and press documents in Chile, France, and Uruguay; and photographs of Ojeda at an exhibition of his artwork in Brazil, with Franz Bader, a photocopy of Ojeda with his family, and photographs and negatives of family and works of art.

Ojeda's correspondence is with his wife Philomena; his ex-wife Olga Cairella; his daughters Ana Gabriela and Maria Antonia de Leguiza; Uruguayan art historian Alicia Haber; and colleagues Moira Bowers, Ernesto Vila, Eduardo Galeano, Enrique Gomez, and Armando Caicedo. General correspondence includes letters with family members, friends, and political activists such as Walter Jesus Gonzalez and his wife Azucena Berrutti who later became Uruguay's National Defense Minister.

Ojeda was unaware that he had a daughter who was the result of a short relationship he had in Argentina after covering events in Chile. De Leguiza connected with Ojeda in 2001. They formed a strong bond based on shared political experiences and beliefs.

Files in this series are for Ojeda's curriculum vitae, print cabinet labels, sales records, galleries, arts organizations, various subjects, exhibitions, political organizations, a legal issue regarding copyright, printing services, and media outlets. The files contain a mixture of correspondence, artwork submissions to exhibitions and competitions, loan and commission forms, invoices and receipts, a video recording about the Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, printed material, and other documents that reflect not only his art career but also his involvement in politics, the Latino American community, and the arts.
The files are arranged in alphabetical order according to gallery, organization, exhibition, subject, or person name.

Ojeda's illustrations for The Washington Post Book World section, the Washington Review, and other publications are also in this series. Three video recordings titled "Ayer y Hoy," "Lo Nuestro," and "The Woodcuts of Naul Ojeda" by Cintia Cabib are in broadcasts.

Artwork consists of drawings, sketches, poster mockups, and 15 sketchbooks. The drawings include transparencies that were used to transfer images to woodblocks for prints and a set of color drawings created by Ojeda while in Santiago, Chile. Many of the loose sketches and sketchbooks contain preliminary sketches in pencil, ink, and color media for various projects including Ojeda's "Ode to Walt Whitman" poetry illustration project and a few poster projects.
