Summary: Four letters and a postcard, 1948, 1951, 1956, 1964, from Gerald Murphy to Marion "Diddy" (Mrs. Lloyd) Lowndes and family. The letters speak of personal matters concerning Murphy as well as his wife, Sara, and their friendship with Lowndes, travels, and feelings.

Biographical/Historical Note

Marion Lowndes from Palisades, N.Y. was a close friend of artist, Gerald Murphy. Murphy was a painter, born in Boston, Mass. and lived in Palisades, N.Y. He was active in Europe around 1921, and painted in an abstract style.


Donated 1965 by Marion Lowndes.
