1.12: Papers of Alice Hodges , circa 1910s-1965

This subseries contains the personal papers of artist Alice Hodges and documents her personal life, artwork, and interests. Included are biographical material, correspondence, exhibition files, printed material, writings, miscellaneous files, artwork, and photographic material. The papers of Alice Hodges are arranged into eight sub-subseries; each is described in more detail in the sub-subseries description.

Biographical material contains ledgers, check stubs, estate records, driver's licenses, address books, addresses on index cards, records related to Hodges' death and last wishes, and other miscellaneous papers and notes. It is arranged alphabetically by subject.

Personal photographs of travel, family and friends are the primary materials found here. There are 31 rolled negative strips in metal canisters of Frederick Kiesler sculptures, Provincetown and Hans Hofmann, Wellfleet, Empire State Music Festival (1955), and travels to Colorado and Europe. Some of the negatives may be printed and found in this sub-subseries or in Photographic Material, circa 1920s-2000 (Subseries 1.13) in Series 1. Negatives are labeled either on the canister or on the paper wrapper around the negatives. Folders are arranged alphabetically by type of material.
