Summary: Short, affectionate letter from museum director Homer Saint-Gaudens in Vermont to his "Aunt Genie," (Eugenie Homer Emerson), 1909, thanking her for her letter, mentioning he's sorry she'll be so far away as East Providence, and closing by saying, "There is no special news here ...". Clippings relate to sculpture by Homer's father, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, including an article by Homer about his father's later works, 1908, and an article by him about caricaturist John Leech.
Provenance
Donated 1994 by the Fine Arts Library, Fogg Museum, which received the material from the Schlesinger Library, Radcliffe College, where it was removed from the Nichols-Shurtleff family papers. Augustus St. Gaudens was married to Elizabeth Nichols' sister, Augusta. Most of the clippings were received in an envelope addressed to "Mrs. O. P. Emerson" (Edith Homer Emerson). (The Schlesinger Library also has The Emerson-Nichols Papers, containing considerable material about the St. Gaudens', the Emersons, and other family relatives.)
