An extensive history of the gallery's exhibitions are documented through correspondence, exhibition catalogs, guest books from early exhibitions (1957-1966), exhibition lists by artist and year, press releases, sketches and notes, and scattered financial records of over 800 exhibitions.
Black and white photographs, scattered negatives, and transparencies provide a photographic record of over 650 exhibitions held from 1957-1998 at all of the various Leo Castelli Gallery locations: 4 E. 77th Street, 65 Thompson Street, 142 Greene Street, 420 W. Broadway, 578 Broadway, and the W. 108th St. Warehouse. Also found are photographs of The Ninth Street Show which Leo Castelli organized in 1951.
Artists represented in this series are extensive and include: Diane Blell, Dan Flavin, Jasper Johns, Joseph Kosuth, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Morris, Bruce Nauman, Robert Rauschenberg, Richard Serra, and Mike and Doug Starn, among many others.
