Scope and Contents
The papers of New York City art historian and curator Kit Smyth Basquin measure 4.8 linear feet and 3.49 GB and date from 1992-2012. The collection documents Basquin's dissertation research on artists Lynne Allen, Lesley Dill, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, and Pat Steir.
Writing and Research Files include a wide variety of materials such as correspondence, interviews and transcripts, photographic materials, printed materials, journals, exhibition catalogs, writings, sound and video recordings and subject files. Some of the materials are in digital format, including sound and video recordings. Also included is a bound copy of Basquin's dissertation, "Words Expand Postmodern Prints: Pat Steir, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Lynne Allen, and Lesley Dill." The collection contains seventeen sound cassettes of recorded interviews and one lecture.

The collection was processed and a finding aid prepared by Hilary Price in 2009. Born-digital materials were processed by Kirsi Ritosalmi-Kisner in 2019 with funding provided by Smithsonian Collection Care and Preservation Fund.
