Found here are published and unpublished writings by Kate Steinitz and others. Writings by Steinitz include manuscripts about art and artists written in German and English, two travel diaries, an illustrated journal, and an autobiographical essay with a sketch by Steinitz of the Traumann family tree. Writings by others include a memorial speech, biographical essays, and miscellaneous notes. Also of interest is a guest register with sketches and comments by visitors. Additional writings by Steinitz created as part of her work with the Elmer Belt Library of Vinciana are arranged in series 4.

Kate Steinitz's professional activities during her career as a librarian and curator of the Elmer Belt Library of Vinciana are arranged here. Included are documents pertaining to Steinitz's trip to Italy to deliver the IX Lettura Vinciana, writings about the library and its holdings on Leonardo da Vinci, including the book Manuscripts of Leonardo da Vinci: Their History, With a Description of the Manuscript Editions in Facsimile by Elmer Belt with a catalogue by Steinitz, bookplates, and professional correspondence. Photographs of Steinitz with Elmer Belt and other scholars visiting the library are also found here.

Photographs of Kate Steinitz's apartments in Los Angeles include images of a Man Ray table that was given to Jake Zeitlin. Photographs by Steinitz include a self-portrait and images of artists, artwork, and Bauhaus architecture. Also included are copy prints and negatives documenting artwork from the Steinitz Family Collection.
