Biographical/Historical Note
John Edward Heliker (1909-2001) was a painter and educator in New York, N.Y. Heliker studied and taught at the Art Students League, was professor of Art at Columbia University, and was a founding member of the New York Studio school with Philip Guston, Leland Bell, Alex Katz, Nicholas Carone, and Mercedes Matter in 1965.
