Summary: Approximately 78 letters to Burdick from Frederic Remington, some illustrated, in which Remington discusses mutual business concerns, his art work, family, and other personal matters. Also included are photographs of Burdick and Remington families on vacation, a photograph of the interior of Burdick's house with a Remington painting on the wall, a photo of Eva Remington, a group photo of friends, and a photo of "Remington's horse"; and a clipping advertising an art competition.
Biographical/Historical Note
Businessman. Burdick helped develop the American railroad system in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In addition, he organized the West Penn Steel Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He and Frederic Remington were good friends.
Provenance
A grand-daughter of Burdick gave these papers to the Essex County [New York] Historical Society. The arrangement devised by the Society has been maintained.
