Summary: Correspondence between Stuart and Mrs. Mary C. Spenser, Michigan State Librarian. Stuart discusses the purchase, size, and price of frames for painting "Sunset Glow on Mt. Hood," to be purchased by the state of Michigan for the Library "Art Gallery." Stuart describes other paintings for possible future purchase, his career in art, his financial position and method of sale of paintings, and prominent persons who have purchased his work.

Provenance
Donated 1961 by the Michigan Historical Commission, through the director of the Michigan Historical Museum, Solan Weeks. The Commission acquired Stewart's painting in 1946, presumably from the State Library.
