Description: Illustrator Warren Chappell wrote to his longtime friend Isable Bishop about his aversion to dealers, agents and other representatives. While Chappell pictured the dealer/artist relationship as an agent leading a performing bear, he envied the contact that such artists had with their clients, compared to the impersonal business of book publishing.
