The photograph was taken by Shahn while he worked as photographer for the Historical Section of the Resettlement Administration. The photograph was taken in Warren, Ohio, and depicts a man standing in a field wearing a hat and suspenders. A mailbox labelled Joe [[illegible]] RDL Box 123 is in the foreground.
