Identification on accompaning label reads: Carle Joan Blenner(1864-1952). Blenner painted the portraits of many famous Americans and Europeans including royalty. He also did decorative floral pieces and landscapes. A friend, William Wallace Whitlock, wrote of his studio in "The Puritan":"His New York studio shows a tendency toward simplicity of furnishing and lack of 'fixings' which is now so pronounced in the artistic world."
