Biographical/Historical Note
Marlene McCarty (1957- ) is an artist, designer, and activist based in New York City. A member of Gran Fury and founder of the design firm Bureau, McCarty's work integrates social, political, and personal dimensions in collaborative spaces. McCarty teaches at New York University.
Svetlana Kitto (1980- ) is an oral historian and writer based in Brooklyn, New York.

This interview is part of the Archives of American Art Oral History Program, started in 1958 to document the history of the visual arts in the United States, primarily through interviews with artists, historians, dealers, critics and administrators.
