Interviewee Dalani K. Tanahy (1961- ) is a kapa practitioner and instructor in Makaha, Hawaii. Tanahy is a prominent advocate for traditional Native Hawaiian craft through her art, teaching, and collaborations with groups including hula hulaus.
Interviewer Lehuauakea (1996- ) is a kapa maker and artist from Hawaii currently based in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
This interview is part of the Archives of American Art Oral History Program, started in 1958 to document the history of the visual arts in the United States, primarily through interviews with artists, historians, dealers, critics and administrators.
