Biographical/Historical Note
Candida Alvarez (1955- ) is a painter known for her inventive use of materials on the canvas and her broad exploration of painting's ability to record experience through figuration and abstraction. Born in Brooklyn, Alavrez is now a tenured professor at the School of the Art Institute Chicago.
