Summary: The papers of writer Helen Ireland Hays concerning artist Paul Bransom measure 1.4 linear feet and date from 1903 to 1983. The papers include correspondence between Helen Hays and Paul Bransom, as well as 36 sound recordings including interviews between Hays and Bransom for the book, All Unplanned: Memoirs of the Golden Age of Illustration. Drawings by Bransom and others as well as photographs of Bransom are also included in the collection.

Biographical/Historical Note

Helen Ireland Hays was a writer in Johnstown, New York, and friend of artist Paul Bransom.

Provenance

The papers concerning Paul Bransom were donated to the Archives of American Art by Helen Ireland Hays in 1985.
