11.1:Photographs of People and Events, 1909-1980
This series includes photos of Kepes, including portraits and photos of him in his studio, and with Juliet Kepes and his children. Also found are photos of colleagues and friends including Harry Bertoia, Varujan Boghosian Alexander Calder, Serge Chermayeff, R. Buckminster Fuller, Oskar Koleoshka, Marshall McLuhan, Margaret Mead, Herbert Read, I. A. Richards, Jonas Salk, Saul Steinberg, Arnold Toynbee, and William Wurster. Some of the photos of colleagues were taken by Kepes. Also found are photos of students at Colby Junior College.

Exhibition installations represented here include the New Bauhaus photograph exhibition in Chicago (1937); several exhibitions designed by Kepes including Art of the United Nations (1945), Visual Education of Artists at the University of Minnesota (1949), and a Moholy-Nagy exhibition at the Fogg Art Museum (1950); and exhibitions featuring paintings and other artwork by Kepes.
