Summary: Letters, 1915-1972; a scrapbook of letters and newspaper clippings, 1901-1919, primarily regarding exhibitions of Rogers' paintings; awards, 1915-1946; printed material, 1914-1986, including newspaper clippings, exhibition catalogs and invitations; a receipt from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts for artwork sold at an exhibition in 1911; 2 photographs of Rogers, as well as a 1914 photograph of an exhibition installation at the Art Institute of Chicago; works of art, including drawings in ink and pastel, and cut-out paper dolls. and a typed mss. for a children's story "Peep Weep" along with seven hand-colored illustrations.

Biographical/Historical Note

Still-life, portrait painter; Boston, Mass. Full name Margaret W. Rogers. Educated at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Studied with Edmund C. Tarbell and Philip Hale.


Donated 1994, 1995 and 1997 by Anne Winslow, neice of Gretchen Rogers.
