Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney papers, 1851-1975, bulk 1888-1942

This subseries consists of drafts and manuscripts of various plays written by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney. The most notable of these is The Hand, which began as a story (also called "The Scar" and "The Usurper") in the early 1930s; she first attempted to make the story into a play in the mid-1930s and eventually collaborated with Ronald Bodley on it beginning in 1941. Also included is one which may or may not have been written by Whitney, which is noted in the title of the folder in the list below.
