Summary: This edition contains only numbers 1-12, biographies of John James Audubon, John Caldwell Calhoun, Lewis Cass, William Ellery Channing, Henry Clay, Millard Fillmore, John Charles Fremont, William Hickling Prescott, Winfield Scott, Zachary Taylor, Daniel Webster, and Silas Warner. Also included with each biography is the semi-monthly journal, FLY LEAF OF ART AND CRITICISM.

Provenance

The edition which the Archives microfilmed from the National Portrait Gallery did not contain the D'Avignon engravings after the Brady daguerrotypes.
